Atlas of biodiversity: wetlands - Chapter 1
Julia Morarin
Wetlands, and more particularly peatlands, represent more than 8% of Quebec's land surface. However, in terms of biodiversity and ecological dynamics, these ecosystems are poorly understood. The exhibition Atlas of Biodiversity: Wetlands – Chapter 1, builds on the knowledge exchange and sharing project of the same name, and presents a small sample of the biodiversity that can be found in peatlands.
Based on a principle of popularization and democratization of science, this exhibition invites the public to discover or rediscover plant species of Quebec's peatlands. You will be invited to walk among the illustrated representations of the species chosen in the sandstone of the natural sound of a bog. For more reality and a simplified assimilation of knowledge, part of the territory has been "brought" to the spectators, it is up to you to come and discover in what format! The most curious will be able to listen to audio episodes, in podcast format, to learn more about the peatlands and the species presented.
