Arunika Gunawardena

Arunika Gunawardena is a professor in the Department of Biology, Dalhousie University, and her lab studies programmed cell death (PCD) in plants using lace plant as a model (http://pcdlab.biology.dal.ca). She joined Dalhousie University in September 2006 after receiving a prestigious NSERC University Faculty Award. She is highly passionate about her research and loves teaching and mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate levels. She also enjoys being involved in outreach activities in her province and is currently serving as president of the Atlantic Science Links Association (http://atlanticsciencelinks.dal.ca). She has been privileged to spend the last 25 years in academia and experience working at four universities in three different countries.
