Melanie Roy

Mélanie Roy is assistant-professor at the University Toulouse Paul Sabatier since 2010, today based at the French-Argentine institute on the study of climate and its impacts in Argentina. She has developed a long-terme interest for plant-fungi interactions, their diversity, ecology and evolution in many habitats. Her projects aim at understanding how this below-ground diversity contributes to ecosystem dynamic or stability. She studies ecosystems known for their long-term history, such as pristine forest in Amazonia, boreal forests and ancient forests in Europe, and perennial agrosystems such as vineyards. Through international and interdisciplinary projects and fieldworks, she is interesting archeologists, landscape ecologists and now climatologists to fungi diversity and their importance in soil - everywhere.
